The Dameng database series of products met the State Grid’s key feature and performance requirements for the dispatching technical support system, with stable and reliable operation, convenient system management and maintenance, and prompt and timely service responses, providing strong support for the construction and stable operation of the power grid dispatching technical support system, and greatly improving the data security of the electric power dispatching system.

The State Grid Corporation of China was established in December 2002 and is a large-scale key state-owned backbone enterprise that is part of the lifeblood of the national economy and is involved with national energy security. The company’s operations cover 26 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and 88% of China’s territory, providing electricity services to over 1.1 billion people. The company has won Grade-A in the performance assessment conducted by the SASAC 17 years in a row; first place in China’s Top 500 Most Valuable Brands six years in a row; and in 2021, was ranked second in the Fortune Global 500. It is a public utility enterprise that leads the industry internationally and enjoys global influence in the industry.

As part of the core support in a nation’s normal operation, the electricity industry is involved in a country’s energy security and is part of the bloodline of the national economy. To meet the objective needs of UHV grid operation and comprehensively upgrade the dispatching mechanism’s ability to drive a large power grid, the State Grid organized the development and construction of a next generation smart power grid dispatching technical support system (D5000 System for short).

The development and construction of this system was one of the projects in the State Grid’s first batch of strong smart grid pilots and key to smart grid dispatching construction. The amount of data generated by the State Grid has been rapidly growing for years, posing extremely high performance and security demands for a database.

Aiming at the standards of openness, reliability, security, adaptability and other features required for a smart grid dispatching technical support system, and meet the high requirements in areas such as rapidly updating data, heterogeneous data synchronization, real-time data backup and automatic failover, Dameng customized a system development plan that included the following content: a 1441 column large-table supporting data collection and rapid data updates; full independent property rights highly compatible with the original system, to realize data synchronization between the new and old heterogeneous dispatching systems; and according to the characteristics and differences of the system’s pilot services, it focused on the customized development of advanced functions or products, including dual-system hot backup and failover, two-three-zone database synchronization and ETL heterogeneous database table-grade synchronization, to realize real-time data backup and automatic fault transfer.
